I am very thankful that you listen to me and read my blogs. It means alot and I don’t take it for granted and that’s what I am thankful for you this Thanksgiving.

Did you know the average U.S. Thanksgiving table has 10.9 people stuffed around it, and 25% of us will share a meal where 15 or more will be fed, according to the travel site Hotwire.
When dinner is done and all the football games end 33% of those surveyed said someone usually ends up sleeping on the couch … HA

SPEED KILLS

Posted in: Johnny

A recent car insurance study puts Libras (born September 23 – October 22) followed by Aquarians (January 20 – February 18) as the worst offenders for tickets and accidents. They may be on to something, because I know a couple of people born in those months that have a history of accidents. What do you think?

Anyway here are some ways to avoid getting a speeding ticket:

1. Know the speed limit. While you want to keep up with traffic around you, try not to exceed the speed limit by more that nine mph.

2. Don’t drive in the left lane. Use it only for passing. More tickets are given to drivers who are in the left lane than other lanes.

3. Realize that police officers with radar guns position themselves so you can’t see them until it’s too late, such as in parking lots or around a bend in the road.

4. If you see a police officer driving on the opposite side of the highway, don’t assume you’re safe. The officer could still be tracking you.

5. Don’t call attention to yourself. Keep the bumper stickers and vehicle modifications to a minimum. Make sure your car isn’t loud.

1. Acting like they have the swing flu.

2. Go on Atkins.

3. Try to buy lots and lots of life insurance.

4. Early Christmas shopping, just in case.

5. Go some place where no one will find them: any of the new Reality shows on T.V.

Tis the season to, lets face it,  EAT some great food and lots of it. Small portions are a great to way to sample all of the food without stuffing yourself. But this time of year we’re not really thinking about proper nutrition.  Now, studies show certain foods can play a major role during the Holidays by improving and maintaining our emotional and mental health. Some foods can boost our IQ’s, calm our nerves, elevate our moods, improve our concentration- even alleviate symptoms associated with hyperactivity and learning disorders, says Dr. Udo Erasmus, one of the leading authorities on the role nutrition plays in mental and physical health. So Doc which foods calm us? Which sharpen our minds? Which foods lift depression and increase our confidence? Dr. Udo  offers these suggestions:

Depression: Foods containing the essential fatty acids Omega 3 & Omega 6, like cold water tuna, salmon, trout, and mackerel, have been found to elevate mood. Flax, sunflower, and sesame seeds or their blended oils are rich vegetable sources of these two depression-lifting essential fatty acids.

Apathy and Mental Fatigue: Women often find eating liver remedies oxygen and iodine levels throughout the body which, combined with consumption of “good” fats, helps to create an energetic attitude toward life.

Anger and Stress: Turkey, chicken, and bananas contain tryptophan, a building block of seratonin, which produces a mellowing effect.  Fish and seeds containing Omega 3 assist brain function, reduce stress, and promote calmness.

Can’t Concentrate: Improve concentration with greens on a short-term basis, a combination of flax and sunflower seeds over the long term. When concentration difficulties are extreme, blended seed oil supplements have proven effective.

Insomnia: Magnesium, a muscle relaxer, can be found in green vegetables. Calcium, which works in conjunction with Magnesium, is plentiful in milk and cheese.

Aggressive Behavior: Can be treated with fatty foods containing the essential fatty acids, or with concentrated oil supplements containing Omega 3 and Omega 6.

Concentration Problems: Vitamin B food will help focus the mind.  They include green leafy vegetables, seafood, and whole grains.  Don’t forget those foods rich in essential fats to nourish the brain, which is comprised of 60% fat. Also, cereal containing fiber was found to assist learning skills in a recent university test.

Migraine Headaches: Five daily glasses of pure water along with regular consumption of fiber-rich food will help flush headache-producing toxins from the body.

TOP FIVE SIGNS YOU MAY HAVE PICKED THE WRONG PLACE TO GET A FLU SHOT.

1. The nurse is holding a hammer.

2. A place called “Medical Clinic and Lube” doesn’t sound quite right.

3. The doctor prefers to remain anonymous.

4. The nurse asks, “Which end goes in the arm again?”

5. Before giving the shot, nurse draws a bulls eye on your arm.

Thoughts on IDA

Posted in: Steve

So here is my thinking. If we can have something as crazy as a Hurricane in the Gulf in November then maybe it’s a sign that having something crazy like the Saints in the Superbowl in February can happen too.  I Believe.

Some months ago when we first learned of a swine flu outbreak, health officials went to work on developing a vaccine to combat the epidemic. Now months later we have the vaccine, but only in short supply, or is there really a short supply? They’re constantly reminding us of how safe the vaccine is, and to make sure we get it, yet there is a shortage. Parents of young children are reluctant to the idea, and hospital and health care workers refused to get it, and the people I’ve talked don’t want it. So why do we have a shortage?

Remember these phrases: This is your last chance; Going out of business sale; This offer is only good if you call in the next 30 minutes; We only have 10 left to sell.

If you want to create an urgency for something, make people believe they have to act NOW, or that there’s a shortage of something.

Song Lyrics

Posted in: Steve

So I know I have way too much time on my hands between songs cause sometimes I have a habit of OVERTHINKING the lyrics to songs. Can’t I just sing along. I know it’s not all about the words, but for me, the words do matter. For example..like in the song from Joe Cocker “You Are So Beautiful” really isn’t much of a compliment, he should just leave it at that right instead of clarifing his statement by adding “you are so beautiful…TO ME.” In other words, the rest of the world may think you’re a dog, but TO ME you’re cute. I told you I overthink these things like Billy Joel doesn’t “want clever conversation,” he never wants to “work that hard”? (What?) . The late Dan Fogelberg great song writer but in his song “Leader of the Band” a touching tribute to a father, but “His blood runs through my instrument?” Uh, Ewww. And “I am the living legacy to the leader of the band”? Nice sentiment, but how can you be a “living legacy to” anyone? Please don’t get me wrong, I don’t expect all lyrics to make sense. Sometimes the rhythm of the song works and we all go with it. But I go crazy over Steve Miller’s ”pompatus of love” and the Eagles’ “warm smell of colitas” in “Hotel California,” and even though those are probably made-up words, they work for me. Next time your singing along to Jason Mraz’s “I’m Yours” on Magic do you hear “ I’ve been spending way too long checking my tongue in the mirror Bending over backwards just to try to see it clearer. Is it just me???

Of course we love all of our creative original professional effective RADIO commercials. But on TV Come on…I think the Caveman thing has run its course for the “So easy a Caveman can do it” company. Lately, it’s Flo, I’m getting tired of.  Loved Flo at first, the saleswoman for Progressive Insurance.  Some of you find her both attractive and funny; but I just find the ads tiresome. I do think the most visually cool are the Prius commercials where people hide out in flowers and clouds. Like the hamster driving the Kia Soul listening to the radio. Have you seen the beer commercial featuring the most interesting man in the world who drinks Dos EquisNot very interesting to me my friends. I am grossed out by Woman who sucks down Dannon yogurt in the grocery store and over the Geico money always watching you too. Do love the talking baby in the E-Trade  commercial. Funny. And the out takes are even funnier on YouTube.

I am so excited over our beloved Saints. But with winning comes alot of pressure on the team and us, the fans. I mean I don’t want em to lose at all! Undefeated season, I know I’m crazy ,  it’s only been done once in NFL history.  And the Saints who have a pretty weak schedule the rest of the season can do it.  But even if they lose a couple the main thing is our dream of them being in the (Gulp) Superbowl. Wow. So to make that happen we need to win our Division and have the best record in our Conference. That’ gives the Saints Home Field advantage in the playoffs. That would mean all the Playoff games would be in the Dome. All the stars are aligned to make this year THAT year. Do you believe?  I can’t wait to be Steve Saints are in the Superbowl Suter.
