I can’t party like I used too. After celebrating the Saints Superbowl run and victory, covering the Election, going to the Parades including a late night for the Saints Superbowl parade  screaming on and off the air, I am emotionally and physically exhausted. Oh yeah and it Mardi Gras. So please excuse me while I take vacation for some much needed R & R.                                                   Talk to ya soon…

No  really,  here’s what happen last night at the Saints Superbowl Parade. . I, my Wife and sister were on the Balcony at Leonardo’s restaurant at St. Charles and Girod to see the Parade. As the Float with Drew came by he was looking the other way but as the last minute he turns and looked right at my wife and sister screaming and yelling but the float was almost passed us at that point so he reached down to grab a bunch of beads and realized there was a large tree in the way of his aim so just like during a game you could see him  quickly figure out the trees defenses and then he threw the beads between 2 large branches and right in the girls hands as they cried and screamed like girls do.  But now I know what Colton and Henderson feel like when they catch a Drew Brees pass and it was magical. I can guarantee those beads won’t go in the attic.

Now that our beloved Saints are World Champions I thought I’d thank a few people that made it possible.

First thanks to Mr. Tom Benson and the Saints front office for keeping the Saints in New Orleans, and not moving them to somewhere where they would never be appreciated like Saints fans.

Also thanks to Mickey Loomis for having the insight to recognize an up and coming head coach in Sean Peyton, and hiring him.

Major thanks to Sean Peyton for believing in Drew Brees after no one else did. After Drew injured his shoulder there were teams not willing to take a chance, but Sean Peyton did. Thanks Sean for drafting and bringing in the talent that we have been looking for for 43 years to help get us to the Super Bowl. And also thanks for taking a pay cut so that Mr. Benson could hire probably one of the, if not the best defensive coordinators in football.

Thank you Mr. Greg Williams for taking a defense that was ranked near the bottom of the league and making them into an aggressive, hard hitting, fearful, opportunistic and respected group.

Thank you Drew Brees for choosing New Orleans over Miami, and orchestrating the best offense in football. Also thanks for all the charity work you do in our community.

Thanks to all the Saints players for your contributions in making this Saints team, a team we can all be proud of.

And finally, thanks to the fans for believing and never giving up on a team that everyone said would never win a Super Bowl. We can all now say “Who Dat Say They Gonna Beat Them Saints” without anyone answering  “We Can”.

You know that happy fun feeling you have during the holidays. Well we’re feeling still feeling it, but instead of Santa it’s the Saints and Christmas morning is Sunday afternoon. I will tell you for Christmas we were being careful with our spending like a lot of people and keeping our holiday spending on a tight budget and we succeeded. But now after buying stuff to turn our Christmas tree into a Saints tree then a Saints Blanket, Saints shirts for the dogs, Saints posters, Superbowl shirts, harts and poster. Sign for the front yard, CD full of Saints songs, Saints flags and magnetic signs for the cars, and buying everything possible with a Fleur de lis on it we are in big trouble with the bank account. But you know what? Surprisingly it doesn’t bother me a bit. Already bought some champagne for Sunday. GO SAINTS and thanks for 3 months of that Christmas feeling…

Saints Poem II

Posted in: Johnny

This is another poem from Don LeCocq, a Magic 101.9 listener that was nice enough to send it to me so I could share it with you Who Dat? fans.

“Our Proud Fleur de Lis”, by Don LeCocq

IN 2 THOUSAND 6

YOU LIT UP OUR HEARTS

THE THRILLS AND THE SPILLS

SET THE SAINTS TEAM APART

SINCE THEN YOU’VE STUMBLED

BUT YOU DID NOT FALL

YOU JUST STALLED THE PROCESS

OF WINNING IT ALL

NOW DON’T TURN YOUR HEADS

DON’T DARE YOU LOOK BACK

THIS IS OUR YEAR

TO PASS, RUN, AND SACK

YOU HAVE ALL THE HORSES

YOU HAVE ALL THE MEN

LET’S PUT ALL THE PIECES

BACK TOGETHER AGAIN

SAINTS YOU’RE OUR HEROES

OUR SOLDIERS, OUR ROCKS

TO THE CITY THAT LOVES YOU

IN A STORM YOU’RE OUR DOCKS

WHEN YOU TAKE THE FIELD

EVERY WEEK, EVERY GAME

THE POINTS ON THE SCOREBOARD

SHOULD ALL BEAR YOUR NAME

FROM THOSE WHO HAVE LOVED YOU

FOR FORTY PLUS YEARS

I PRAY THAT 09

WILL ERASE ALL THE TEARS

I KNOW YOU CAN DO IT

YOU KNOW THIS FACT TOO

YOU, ME, AND ALL FANS

WILL HELP PULL YOU THROUGH

HOPE SPRINGS ETERNAL

ADD FAITH TO THE POT

STIR IN LUCK AND NO INJURIES

AND LOSE YOU WILL NOT

GO SAINTS YES GO SAINTS

BE ALL YOU CAN BE

LET BLACK AND GOLD JERSEYS

FLANK OUR PROUD FLEUR DE LIS

No not the Swine or regular Flu. Since it is so contagious local health experts are recommending you stay away from work. Tell your boss that this disease is so widespread a doctors note would be impossible because the Doctors out with it. But it’s possible you may have to be away from work 2 possible 3 days especially Monday and Tuesday. There is no know treatment for what’s being called Saints fever. Affected victims just have to let it run its course.

Think our bosses bought it?

Another day you have to worry about getting off work because of the Saints. But if you work downtown your already close to the route. The official Saints Super Bowl parade to honor our Saints is next Tuesday, Feb. 9, at 5 p.m.

It will start at the Superdome, beginning at Poydras and LaSalle streets and roll down Poydras turning on Loyola and then to Howard Avenue rapping around Lee Circle and up St. Charles Avenue to Canal Boulevard, heading to the river and turning back to Convention Center Boulevard.
