If you saw some white stretch limo’s downtown this morning that was for a wedding of Former

WWL

Gov. Edwin Edwards, who will be 84 next month, just got out of prison and married 32-year-old Trina Grimes Scott at the Monteleone Hotel this morning. The bride befriended Edwards while he was serving a federal prison sentence for a bribery and extortion scheme.  Edwards wore a blue suit, while the bride wore a cream-colored, knee-length, bare-shouldered dress.

A reporter asked what the dress was made of. She said she didn’t know. Edwards quipped: “It’s Italian silk, with a Cajun twist.”

Not that it’s shocking news. There were rumors for months even Reggie tweeted, ‘It’s been fun New Orleans” after we drafted RB  Ingram. So now that Reggie Bush leaves the Who Dat Nation to play for the Miami Dolphins, what will Who Dat’s do with their No. 25 jersey? At least he’s not going to the Falcon’s. And NO we don’t play Miami this season.

The most popular company for movie rentals is about to lose some of it’s customers.

Netflix recently anounced a 60 percent price increase on it’s DVD mail deliver service and it streaming movie plan. That set off a wave of angry customers and lit up the facebook and twitter accounts. 2 million customers have said they will cancel the service which seems like a lot, but keep in mind that Netflix says it has 25 million subscribers.

I have the Netflix stream service only and I think it’s a very good bargain compared to some of the other services. But I have to agree with the 2 million people that are canceling that the 60 percent increase is too much for the DVD delivery and the stream service.  Most people like to watch a movie on the weekends, and with the DVD delivery you only have time to order one movie  for the weekend, and once you watch it, you don’t have time to return it to get another one before the weekend is up. The solution would be to put the new releases on the stream, so we can watch them anytime we get ready. That would justify a 60 percent increase in the price.

A few words of caution for Netflix. Remember a lot of the customers you have now are the ones that used to go to Blockbuster to rent a movie, and we all know what happened to Blockbuster.

So this guy wakes up and it’s freezing and realizes he’s in a morgue fridge 24 hours after his family thought he had died. The day before his family called in an undertaker who sent him to the morgue after the 80 year old had some kind of attack and fell to the floor at home. So when the emergency crew got there, they examined the body, checked his pulse, looked for a heartbeat, but there was nothing. But a day after staff put the body into a locked refrigerated compartment, morgue workers heard someone shouting for help. They thought it was a ghost; everybody got scared and called the police. After opening the draw the man was pale and said, ‘How did I get here?”’ He was taken to the hospital and later discharged by doctors who deemed him stable.

Now the man’s family was informed while they were making funeral arrangements. and were happy to have him home, but all are still trying to recover from such a traumatic experience.

So I just blogged about the safest, sweetest movie Winnie The Pooh yesterday. And it brought some comment from listenetrs about other so called kids movies. Movies for kids aren’t all sweetness and light, even if they’re rated G. Bambi’s mom dying, Old Yeller? Cruella De Vil wanting to make those poor little Dalmatians into coats? Scary scenes can make the happy ending worthwhile, but some kids can’t handle some intense moments, even if mom or dad is close by. So here are some of the scenes from Movies that frightened their children — and sometimes, the parent’s too.

Toy Story’ terror
Most kids were scared by the cymbal-clanging monkey in Toy Story 3. My god child Kyle when he  wants to watch the movie, he asks — even before I put the DVD in — if I will skip the monkey part. He’s not a very frightful kid, but the monkey really scares him.” Toy Story 3, hands down was a popular choice most parents called the creepiest “children’s” film. The incinerator scene in Toy Story 3 scared a lot of children even to the point of tears. A lot of parents that bought Toy Story and Toy Story 2 on DVD refuse to purchase Toy Story 3.”

What happened to ‘Nemo’s’ mom?
Young children seemed terrified of the opening scene in ‘Finding Nemo,’ where Marlin and Coral are attacked by that big fish and the fish eats Coral and all the fish eggs except Nemo. Some parents skip that scene when playing there DVD

Stop those ‘Cars’
‘Cars 2, Oh come on what one parent described as “a mix of ‘Fast and the Furious’ and 007 all in one. I was surprised to see so MANY guns in the movie. So many shoot outs, it was just too much for a 6 year old and a 3 yr old!”

‘Ice Age 2,’ ‘Gremlins,’ and Darth Vader
“The flood in ‘Ice Age 2 The Meltdown’ had many 3-6 years olds scared. Now ‘Gremlins’ is pretty scary for older kids and even adults and who wasn’t scared of DARTH VADER!

‘Ratatouille’: Shoot those rats
More Gun’s to worry about in the Disney movie ‘Ratatouille’. Wham-bam first scene is of a grandmother-type woman pulling out a shotgun and shooting her whole house up trying to kill all of the rats!

‘E.T.’: Phone…aaaaaugh!
My sister who is near 50 still will not watch that movie. She is scared to death of E.T. And we heard from a few parents that it terrified there children as well. The very first scene that showed E.T.’s face put some kids over the edge. Even after explaining to them that E.T. is ‘nice’ and ‘cute’ but had no luck at convincing them that he was anything other than a hideous monster from outer space!’

‘Coraline’: Fake Mom needs a manicure
“The scene in ‘Coraline’ where the “Fake Mom” is chasing after Coraline and has extremely long nails was way too much for one 7 year old. She hasn’t watched the movie since.”

Murder in ‘Mulan’
“There are several scenes in the cartoon ‘Mulan’ which were far too violent/disturbing for a child to see. Another Disney movie that a parent says failed to recognize the topic was that Genghis Khan was a murderer of millions of people, and there are some subjects that shouldn’t be taught to young children until they are old enough to understand

‘Heidi’: Even Shirley Temple movies can scare
Really” Yep, the 1937 movie, ‘Heidi’ starring Shirley Temple traumatized one small girl when she was 4 years old. She trembled when Heidi’s grumpy grandfather or Fräulein Rottenmeier, the mean and strict housekeeper were in the scenes! She’s now 20 years old and says it’s one of the scariest movies ever!”

Since we just finished season 10 of the nations most watched and favorite T.V. show, and already auditioning for season 11, I thought this would be a good time to take a look at how much money these overnight stars are making.

Forbes has released it’s annual ranking of the top earning American Idol alums and it comes as no surprise that Carrie Underwood tops the list.

She surpassed Kelly Clarkson who was last years top earner. Her $20 million takes up 40 percent of the entire list.

The big surprise this year was Adam Lambert who was a runner up on the show a couple of season ago. He’s tied with Chris Daughtry for second place with an impressive $6 million.

Fantasia Barrino is all the way up to number three with $4 million thanks to her reality show “Fantasia For Real”, and her comback album “Back To Me”, which is her highest charting album to date.

Of the 12 Idols on the Forbes list, seven of them are women. This is interesting, considering no female contestant has won “American Idol” since Jordan Sparks won it in season 6.

So will this latest group of Idol finalists (Scotty McCreery, Lauren Alaina, and Pia Toscano be on that list next year?

Here’s the complete list.

1. Carrie Underwood: $20 million

2. Daughtry: $6 million (Tie), Adam Lambert: $6 million

3. Fantasia Barrino: $4 million

4. Jordin Sparks: $3 million

5. Kelly Clarkson: $2.5 million (She was in first place last year)

6. Jennifer Judson: $2 million

7. Kellie Pickler: $1.8 million

8. Clay Aiken: $1.5 million

9. Katharine McPhee: $1 million (Tie), David Archuleta & David Cook

Near misses: Kris Allen, Lee DeWyze, Crystal Bowersox, and Ruben Studdard

One of my favorite things to do after we go out and eat is to stop at a Book store and look around. Pick a few books to look over in those comfy chairs. Some of the Stores even have little coffee shops in them. So I was very sad to hear that Borders was declaring Bankruptcy and going to close their locations here in town on vets near causeway and that awesome building on St Charles Ave. BUT today we found out that Borders is seeking permission to sell 30 to 35 of its stores to bookstore chain Books-a- Million. Border said previously that an unnamed bidder was seeking to buy the leases and assets of 30 Borders stores. It named Books-a- Million as the bidder during a hearing at the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Southern District of New York on Today and a judge is expected to rule on the matter as well as Borders plan to liquidate its remaining stores later on Thursday. Books-a-million said that they would keep any stores open that were not near and other of their stores which is great news for us because Book-a-million is currently located only on the Northshore and in Houma so let hope they keep both locations here in Open.
