Sheen out Kutcher in. Now what?

So the Charlie Sheen drama is pretty much over and it’s time for the TV show to move on with new star Ashton Kutcher. We hear he will play an Internet billionaire with a broken heart’ when he becomes the new star of the TV show Two and a Half Men next month on CBS. It’s gotta be one of the most-anticipated cast change on TV’s for a sitcom after all the drama and the stormy exit of Charlie Sheen last season.

Kutcher’s character will be named Walden Schmidt and has no family connection to the characters played by continuing stars Jon Cryer and Angus T. Jones, who portrayed the brother and son of Sheen’s departed character.

So do you think they kill off the Sheen’s character or just act like he never existed? , Charlie Harper who or will there be a funeral. We will find out soon when “Men”’ begins its ninth season on Sept. 19

Big fest’s on both sides of the lake

Best of all both the French Quarter fest and Strawberry fest are FREE. So spend Saturday at one and Sunday at the other or visa-versa. And feel bad for people living outside of this araea that have nothing to do this weekend.

Rumors have been flying for weeks and now it’s been confirmed that actress Meg Ryan has been dating singer John Mellencamp. Sources say the You’ve Got Mail star has always had a crush on the musician, who just announced that he and his wife are divorcing after 18 years of marriage. “Meg has liked John for a long time, and they are very comfortable together,” a pal told the PopEater website. “They already looked like an old married couple when they strolled through New York’s West Village or spent time on Martha’s Vineyard. They don’t care what people say. They are in love. As far as Meg is concerned, life is too short to not grab happiness when it comes along. She has nothing to prove to anyone.” Mellencamp and Ryan have been dating for around 7 weeks.

Meg Ryan starred in Sleepless In Seatle (93), French Kiss(95), Addicted to Love (97), City Of Angels(98) and You’ve Got Mail(98).

Time to “Fall Back” this weekend

Because it comes later than usual this year, it’s easy to forget we “fall back” and end Daylight Savings Time this coming weekend. So before you go to bed Saturday night set those clocks BACK one hour and get an extra hour of sleep. Turning back your clocks early Sunday is also a great time to change the battery in your smoke detectors. And make sure all your radios are on Magic 101.9 too!

Please get out and vote tomorrow. Your employer has too give you time to vote. Some schools actually have the day off. There are important races all over the area plus voters will be faced with10 long and, at times, complex constitutional amendments on tomorrow’s election ballot. And if you’re like me when you’re behind that curtain sometimes you have no idea what you’re voting for even though the amendments are written its small print and a lot to read. HOW DO HURRICANES GET THEIR NAMES?

So over the Holiday weekend all of a sudden we had a Tropical Storm form in the gulf and quickly move inland near the Texas/Mexico border. No big deal but it was named Hermine? And I’m sure like me every now and then you shake your head at these Hurricane names so it got me thinking where do they get these names? Are they the guys working at the Hurricane center using friends and girlfriends or make em up? Come to find out first they were named after Catholic saints. Later on, the latitude-longitude positions of a storm’s formation were used as a name. That was too weird. Military meteorologists started giving female names to storms during World War II, then they started a system of rotating, alphabetical names. The name is then not used for 10 years, which makes historic references and insurance claims easier. Names can be retired at by request from a nation that has been hit by the storm.

In 1979, the system was given a dose of political correctness: male names were added to the list, as were French and Spanish names, reflecting the languages of the nations affected by hurricanes.

Today, we use six lists of 21 names (Q, U, X and Z names are not used) that it cycles through every six years, with the gender of the season’s first storm alternating year to year, and genders alternating through the rest of hurricane season. If there are more than 21 storms in a year, as there were in 2005, the rest of the storms are named for letters in the Greek alphabet.

So who’s left after Hermine this year? Let’s hope we don’t see Igor, Julia, Karl, Lisa, Matthew, Nicole, Otto, Paula, Richard, Shary, Tomas, Virginie, and Walter.

Mother’s Day is this Sunday. What’s the best advise your mom ever gave you? Here’s a list from a survey done by ivillage.

BOWLER MAKES HISTORY

Fran Lasee rolled a perfect 300 game this year in Winconsin. At 89 years old he is the oldest person to roll a perfect game. The United States Bowling Congress listed others who have accomplished the feat.
