The most popular company for movie rentals is about to lose some of it’s customers.

Netflix recently anounced a 60 percent price increase on it’s DVD mail deliver service and it streaming movie plan. That set off a wave of angry customers and lit up the facebook and twitter accounts. 2 million customers have said they will cancel the service which seems like a lot, but keep in mind that Netflix says it has 25 million subscribers.

I have the Netflix stream service only and I think it’s a very good bargain compared to some of the other services. But I have to agree with the 2 million people that are canceling that the 60 percent increase is too much for the DVD delivery and the stream service.  Most people like to watch a movie on the weekends, and with the DVD delivery you only have time to order one movie  for the weekend, and once you watch it, you don’t have time to return it to get another one before the weekend is up. The solution would be to put the new releases on the stream, so we can watch them anytime we get ready. That would justify a 60 percent increase in the price.

A few words of caution for Netflix. Remember a lot of the customers you have now are the ones that used to go to Blockbuster to rent a movie, and we all know what happened to Blockbuster.
