Do you dine at your desk?
Posted in: Steve
So today I’m eating a Chicken salad sandwich at my desk while doing some computer work and someone comes in with a question and say’s, ‘Oh you’re eating, I’ll come back later”. And I said “No, I’m good, what’s up”. And she said that I should eat in the kitchen so nobody bothers me with work stuff on my lunch break. But most people around here do eat at the desk unless they go out of the office. Most people who bring lunch I see eating at their desks. Now I have when the weather is nicer walked to some nice bench or place under a tree to eat outside but its way too hot for that now. But after doing some research I found out most of us have eaten lunch while hunched over our desks. I found a study at the Cornell Food and Brand Lab that said it’s a bad habit. People who eat at their desks eat more junk food, and they enjoy the food less than when they eat with a coworker. They say if you must eat at your desk, eat only hot foods. Not only does this make desktop dining less convenient, but hot foods tend to be more nutritious than those you’d find in a vending machine, snack bar, or at the bottom of a desk drawer. Now that I’m finished my sandwich I know there’s a Hershey kiss somewhere in this drawer..I gotta go.
